El Príncipe William visita Expo 2020 Dubai como parte del Día Nacional del Reino Unido
DUBAI, 10 de febrero de 2022: Su Alteza Real el Príncipe William visita los Emiratos Árabes Unidos en febrero, con un programa que coincide con el 50 aniversario del país y el Día Nacional del Reino Unido que se celebrará en la Expo 2020 Dubai el 10 de febrero.
La visita fue a pedido de la Oficina de Asuntos Exteriores, Commonwealth y Desarrollo del Reino Unido, y fue parte de la primera visita oficial de Su Alteza Real a los Emiratos Árabes Unidos.
El Día Nacional en la Expo vio al Reino Unido exhibir el extraordinario talento de todo el país. Su Alteza Real se unió a estas celebraciones, que también contaron con el Queen's Baton Relay de Birmingham 2022, lanzado por Su Majestad desde el Palacio de Buckingham en octubre de 2021, mientras desfila por el sitio de la Expo para visitar los Pabellones Nacionales de la Commonwealth
El vínculo entre el Reino Unido y los Emiratos Árabes Unidos es profundo y fuerte, y la visita del Príncipe William resaltará y aprovechará estos vínculos, ya que tiene la oportunidad de relacionarse con jóvenes emiratíes, líderes del gobierno y conservacionistas comprometidos.
Su Alteza Real otorga una importancia particular al mundo natural, una pasión que compartió el padre fundador de los EAU, Su Alteza el Jeque Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
Durante la visita, el Príncipe William aprendió más sobre las iniciativas que brindan áreas protegidas para la flora y fauna únicas de la región, y aprovechó la oportunidad para destacar dos programas de la Royal Foundation: United for Wildlife y The Earthshot Prize.
United for Wildlife, establecida por el Príncipe William en 2014, ha estado trabajando en la región para ayudar a facilitar los esfuerzos para contrarrestar el comercio ilegal de vida silvestre, que representa una amenaza existencial para las especies más emblemáticas del mundo. Países de todo el mundo, incluidos los Emiratos Árabes Unidos, están haciendo un esfuerzo colectivo para hacer frente a esta empresa delictiva de 150 000 millones de USD y, durante su visita, Su Alteza Real aprendió más sobre las asociaciones público-privadas en los Emiratos Árabes Unidos que ayudan a lograrlo.
La visita también brinda la oportunidad de exhibir el Premio Earthshot en el escenario mundial en Expo 2020 Dubai.
Expo 2020, junto con DP World, su socio comercial global, es socio fundador de la Alianza Global de The Earthshot Prize, la gran iniciativa ambiental global fundada por la Fundación Real del Duque y la Duquesa de Cambridge y establecida por el Príncipe William. Destacar a algunos de los destacados innovadores del Premio Earthshot 2021 inaugural ayudará a acelerar y escalar sus increíbles soluciones para reparar el planeta.
